Himachal proposes Rs.3,300 crore plan for 2011-12

SHIMLA - Himachal Pradesh has proposed Rs.3,300 crore annual plan for the next fiscal (2011-12) with roads and education as areas of focus, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said Thursday.
Discussing the plan with legislators, he said roads, education and health have been accorded topmost priority as tehse would generate resources and employment opportunities.
Expressing concern over the 13th Finance Commission\’s recommendations, Dhumal said it did not take into account the liabilities of the state because of pay scales revision, pensions and interest.
\”The 13th Finance Commission has given a non-plan revenue grant of Rs.7,888 crore whereas the 12th Finance Commission had given us a grant of Rs.10,202 crore,\” the chief minister noted.
He said the state has taken up this matter with the central government again and demanded Rs.2,500 crore as central assistance and Rs.1,500 crore as special plan assistance for the state for 2011-12.
The economy of the Himalayan state is highly dependent on horticulture - besides hydroelectric power and tourism.
