NEW DELHI - The government Monday sought an approval from parliament for an additional expenditure of nearly Rs.45,000 crore during the current year.

The supplementary demands for grants for 2010-11 were presented in the Lok Sabha by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee amid noisy protests by opposition members, who were demanding a joint parliamentary committee probe into the 2G spectrum allocations.

The gross additional expenditure of Rs.44,945.52 crore included fertiliser subsidy of nearly Rs.5,000 crore.
