Wyoming’s unemployment rate holds relatively steady in November from prior month

Wyo. jobless rate holds relatively steady in Nov.
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Wyoming Department of Employment reports that the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate stayed about the same from October to November.
The rate dropped 0.2 percentage points to 7.2 percent in November.
Senior Economist David Bullard says that’s not a statistically significant change, but it’s better than the climbing unemployment Wyoming experienced in most other months of 2009.
The national unemployment rate is 10 percent.
Wyoming lost 18,200 jobs from November last year to this year. The state lost 5,900 jobs over the year in the natural resources and mining industry, 5,200 in construction, 2,000 in retail and 1,900 in hospitality.
The state gained 400 jobs in educational and health services and 900 jobs in government.
