DynCorp gets $88M support contract from Air Force
FALLS CHURCH, Va. — DynCorp International has received an order worth as much as $88 million from the Air Force for maintenance and support services, the military contractor said Tuesday.
The contract spans 16 months and covers organizational, intermediate and depot-level maintenance for all Naval Test Wing Atlantic aircraft and support equipment.
DynCorp, which also trains police units and provides aviation support in countries such as Iraq, stands to lose a sizeable chunk of such funding because of a recent decision by the top military commander in Afghanistan.
Gen. Stanley McChrystal gave control of national police training to the military, a service DynCorp has provided since 2003.
Those contracts provide about $20 million in monthly revenue for DynCorp, company officials have said.
That work may go to Xe Services, the company once known as Blackwater Worldwide.
Work related to the DynCorp contract announced Tuesday will be done at the Naval Air Station in Patuxent River, Md. The company has done maintenance and other work for the Naval Test Wing Atlantic aircraft since 1973.
Shares of DynCorp International Inc. shed 23 cents to $13.85.
