CHENNAI - Ashley Alteams India, an equal joint venture between truck maker Ashok Leyland and Alteams OY of Finland, Wednesday commissioned a Rs.130-crore high pressure die cast aluminium products plant near here.

The components produced will be used by automotive and telecom players within and outside India.

The plant, with an annual capacity of 7,000 tonnes, was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Finland’s Communications Minister Suvi Linden.

“The high pressure die casting technology is favoured by automotive and telecom sectors due to its low weight,” Ashok Leyland managing director R. Seshasayee told reporters.
