HELSINKI - Nordic carrier Finnair and Unicef have raised 69,772 euros during the just-concluded festive season to be used for the latter’s Clean Water and the Environment for the Children of India programme, the airline said Wednesday.

The money raised will go to support Unicef’s Clean Water and the Environment for the Children of India programme, which will continue to be the target for the collection for the next two years as well, a Finnair statement said.

The programme highlights in particular the importance of sanitation, hygiene and clean water, the statement added.

Finnair has been cooperating with Unicef since 1994 to improve conditions for the world’s children. Since then, the airline’s Change for Good collection has raised over one million euros for the world’s children.

“I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our customers who

participated in the collection. The result is a fine one and reflects the commitment of both customers and personnel to the campaign despite these challenging times,” said Christer Haglund, Finnair’s senior vice president for community relations and communications.
