BHUBANESWAR - Dense fog enveloped coastal Orissa for several hours Monday morning, disrupting road, air and rail traffic, officials said.
Visibility was below 200 metres from 6 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. across the coastal belt, an official of the meteorological centre in Bhubaneswar said.
The runway visibility at the Biju Patnaik Airport here was poor and authorities rescheduled one flight. A Kingfisher flight, which departed from Kolkata in the morning, could not land here and was forced to return, an airport official said.
Railway authorities rescheduled the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express.
“The train, which was scheduled to depart at 9.15 a.m. from Bhubaneswar, will now depart at 2.30 p.M. due to fog,” M.D Sahu, a spokesperson of the East Coast Railway, told IANS.
Motorists were seen driving slow and using their headlights mid-morning.
The met office has forecast fog across the region Tuesday morning as well.
