PUNE - Soft beverages giant Coca-Cola Thursday inaugurated its first analytical laboratory in India which would drive innovation in products and ensure that the company’s products meet all safety standards.

The lab, spread over an area of 2,000 square meters, is located at Pirangut here and has been built with an investment of $4 million (over Rs.18 crore)

“The technical capabilities at the new centre will be leveraged extensively across many countries in South Asia and Eurasia and will provide us the necessary support to achieve our long term growth objectives,” said Atul Singh, president and chief executive of Coca-Cola India.

The facility was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Trivedi and will offer analytical and technical support to Coca-Cola’s operations in India and South Asia as well as to countries in Eastern Europe, southern Eurasia and the Middle East.

“This laboratory is one of six such facilities that exist across the world and it will enable our operations in India to grow its business and capitalize on new beverage trends and consumer needs at a greater speed,” said the company’s Chief Quality Officer Carletta Ooton.
