GURGAON - Tired of not getting a response from the authorities, residents of Wazirpur village in Haryana’s Gurgaon district have decided to take matters into their own hands. They have decided to contribute money to build a nine km stretch of road from Wazirpur to Farukh Nagar in the same district.

We don’t force anyone; those who wish can contribute money for the construction of the road. This road is used by lakhs of commuters daily and is the only connecting link between Gurgaon and Farukh Nagar,” Wazirpur resident Maan Singh said Wednesday.

“For the past five years we have been writing to the Public Works Department (PWD) but the condition of the road is the same, added the resident of the village which is 15 km from Gurgaon town.

Maan Singh and 10 other residents have set up a camp at the roadside so that commuters can donate money if they want.

We sit here till one in the afternoon every day. We get a good response from both residents and commuters and people have shown an interest. Once we have enough money we will start the repair work, he added.

The 9 km road also connects Manesar, a hub of industries, to Millennium City in Gurgaon.
