GURGAON - “Complete the work, it is already late.” This is what Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had to say to the firm which is constructing the 135.65-km-long Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway.
Hooda, who visited the expressway Saturday, directed DS Construction Limited officials to expedite the work and also ordered senior government officials to inspect the work from time to time and send the progress reports to him.
He conducted an aerial inspection of the expressway from Kundli to Manesar. The KMP expressway crosses the National Highway 8 (NH-8) at Panchgaon village, about five km from Manesar.
The chief minister noticed that the work of raising pillars for the flyover across the NH-8 was left midway and no work was going on.
The 30-metre-wide expressway, construction of which started in 2006, was to have been completed by November 1, 2009.
According to Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) authorities, the expressway, originating from Kundli in Sonepat district, would culminate at Palwal after passing through Jhajjar, Rohtak and Gurgaon. It will connect four National Highways — NH-1, NH-2, NH-8 and NH-10.
It will also connect three state highways.
It has four lanes but provisions have been wide for widening it into six lanes.
The expressway has 287 pipe culverts, 61 pedestrian crossings, 31 cattle crossings, 33 agricultural vehicle underpasses, 36 major and minor bridges and four railway over bridges. It will have 10 toll plazas and four lay-bys for trucks and buses.
