GANDHINAGAR - Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation Ltd has brought in this year’s first spot LNG (liquefied natural gas) cargo on Indian shores, a company spokesperson announced here Thursday.

The LNG carrier ‘Catalunya Spirit’, containing over 50,000 tonnes of LNG from Trinidad & Tobago, arrived at the receiving and regassification terminal at Dahej Wednesday.

“Gas from the said cargo shall be used for meeting the demand of various customers of GSPCL spread across the state, with the help of the pipeline network developed by Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL)”, the spokesperson said.

In 2009-10, GSPCL sourced four LNG cargoes from Australia, Egypt, Qatar and Trinidad & Tobago.
