Chhattisgarh sets higher tax collection target

RAIPUR - Buoyed by impressive tax collection in 2009-10, the Chhattisgarh government has set a target of netting Rs.6,761 crore as commercial tax in the current fiscal 2010-11, a minister said Friday.

The government had showed an impressive tax collection in the fiscal year that ended March 31, 2010 with a whopping collection of Rs.6,227.25 crore as against the target of Rs.5,713 crore.

“The commercial tax department managed to collect about Rs.514 crore more tax than the target in the last financial year and the government will strive to exceed the tax collection target in 2010-11 as well,” Commercial Taxes Minister Amar Agrawal told reporters.
