Chhattisgarh to go for water conservation

RAIPUR - Chhattisgarh will go for a “massive water conservation” drive from May 16 to overcome a severe scarcity of drinking water, it was announced Wednesday.

The decision was taken at a meeting Chief Minister Raman Singh held with ministers and senior officials in the wake of depleting ground water level.

Singh told the ministers that a month-long drive would be launched with mass participation from May 16 in which existing ponds would be deepened, old ponds renovated and cleaned, and new ponds dug up to meet a severe water crisis across the state, including in rural areas.
