SRINAGAR - Schools reopened as did markets, banks and other business establishments in Srinagar and other parts of the Kashmir Valley Tuesday following three days of separatist shutdowns.

City roads once again returned to life with most main roads clogged with traffic. The Kashmir University, however, postponed all examinations scheduled for Tuesday.

Senior separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani had in a statement Monday evening asked people to resume normal activities from Tuesday.

The shutdown was called after a Class 12 student, Tufail Ahmad Mattoo, was killed in the old city area of Rajouri Kadal Friday during clashes between stone pelting protesters and the security personnel.

Deepak Kumar, deputy inspector general of police (DIG), central Kashmir range, has been entrusted with the internal probe to fix responsibility for the killing, an official said.

The post mortem report established that the boy died because a tear smoke shell had hit his head, the official source said.
