San Francisco (GaeaTimes.com) SpaghettiOs maker Campbell’s Soup has issued a recall for over 15 million pounds of the canned meal. The SpaghettiOs with Meatballs, with the product code “U5″ on the bottom, SpaghettiOs A to Z with Meatballs with the code “4N” on the bottom, SpaghettiOs Fun Shapes with Meatballs (Cars) with the product code “KS” on the bottom are involved in the recall. The recalled products have ‘EST 4K’ as well as a use by date between June 2010 and December 2011. If you have any question about the recall you can call Campbell’s Soup hotline number 866 495 3774.
The 14.75-ounce cans of SpaghettiOs are recalled as a cooker malfunctioned at one of the company’s plant in Texas and the meat and other ingredients in those cans could be undercooked which could lead to gastrointestinal issues. The meatballs that went through the cooker did not get the requisite amount of heat, according to the company. The company does not exactly know the time since when the cooker malfunctioned but they are recalling products made between December 2008 to June 2010 “out of an abundance of caution”.
The SpaghettiOs Recall was announced late Thursday afternoon by the Department of Agriculture. A spokes person for Campbell’s Soup has stated that the company believes that the products have been shipped but have not yet been shelved for purchase by the customers. The SpaghettiO’s that have been purchased is expected to be safe to consume. According to USDA, there are still no reports of illness caused by the undercooked meat. There haven’t been any complaints from the customers either.
