RANCHI - Transportation charges by trucks in Jharkhand will go up by 10 percent from Monday due to the increase in diesel prices, it was announced here Sunday.

“We held a meeting Sunday and decided to increase the trucks’ transportation charges by 10 percent. The new charges will be effective from Monday,” Uday Shankar Ojha, the secretary of the Jharkhand Truck Owners Association, told reporters.

“We have no option but to increase the transportation charges considering the rising prices of diesel,” he said.

“If truck owners will not increase the transportation charges then it will be difficult to run trucks,” said Ojha.

The central government June 25 hiked the price of diesel by Rs.2 a litre.
