Dems fear economic impact on Reid despite rebound
HENDERSON, Nev. — Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada holds a slim lead over his Republican opponent in the latest polling.
That’s due in part to Sharron Angle’s unsteady performance since winning the June GOP primary and to Democratic ads portraying her as an extremist.
But an internal memo obtained by The Associated Press says Reid has a “a serious problem” with voters frustrated with the economy. The memo is based on polling research conducted for a union-funded group running ads against Angle.
The memo concludes that despite Reid’s improved standing and voters’ alarm over some of Angle’s positions the contest remains wide open.
