Marriott spends $160,000 on 2Q lobbying
WASHINGTON — Marriott International Inc. spent $160,000 in the second quarter to lobby on travel promotion, tropical forest protection and other matters, according to a recent disclosure report.
That’s even with the $160,000 the company spent in the first quarter on lobbying, and less than the $100,000 it spent in the same period a year earlier.
The hotel chain, whose brands include JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, Courtyard by Marriott, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn and Ritz-Carlton, also lobbied the federal government on health care, taxes for online bookings, labor issues, immigration and more in the April through June period.
The company, based in Bethesda, Md., lobbied both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, according to a disclosure report filed July 19 with the House clerk’s office.
