Suzlon bags contract for 30 mw wind turbine in Rajasthan

NEW DELHI - The country’s largest wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy Friday said it has won a 30 MW wind turbine order from Bhubaneswar-based mineral developer Altrade Group.

Suzlon said it will operate and maintain the turbines which is will be installed at wind farms in the Jaisalmer and Jodhpur in Rajasthan.

“The project will extend Suzlon’s leadership of the Rajasthan wind market taking the total installed base to over 700 MW,” the company said in a statement.

The company did not divulge any financial details of the deal.

According to Suzlon, the project is Altrade’s maiden venture into wind energy annd once completed it will generate enough electricity for over 6,000 households.

The project is will be commissioned by January 2011.

Currently Suzlon is the market leader in this power segment and has over over 40 sites across eight states with an installed capacity base of more than 5,000 MW.
