Flight cancellations affected over 5,000 passengers in August

NEW DELHI - The civil aviation ministry Thursday said 5,178 passengers were affected due to cancellations of flights by domestic airlines in August.

Kingfisher led the chart with 3,276 affected passengers, followed by Spicejet and Go Air at 1,360 and 542 passengers respectively.

According to the ministry, flight cancellations in the month was 3.1 percent of the total flights. JetLite, Jet Airways and Kingfisher cancelled the maximum number of flights.

It said 51.3 percent flights in the month were cancelled due to commercial reasons.

The ministry also said it received 1,078 passenger complaints in August, mostly against Jet Airways, JetLite, Spicejet and IndiGo.
