PARIS - Jaguar caused a sensation at the Paris Motor Show by presenting the concept study of a “breathtaking” electrically powered super car with a quartet of electric engines providing an output of 780 horsepower and a top speed of 330 km/h.

Combined with a sleek aluminum body in jetstream silver, aerodynamic efficiency has been increased with the front grille and brake cooling vents that only open when needed. Vertical control surfaces at the rear are engaged at higher speeds to direct air flow to the rear wheels for more stability.

The range on a single electric charge of six hours is listed at 110 km, but lightweight gas turbine engines can recharge the lithium-ion batteries extending the range to 900 km.

A miniaturised turbine blade, developed in partnership with Bladon Jets, increases the compression and efficiency of the micro-gas turbines. Each of the micro gas-turbines produces 70kW of power at a constant 80,000 rpm, producing 28 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometre.

In a clear demonstration that eco-driving need not mean poor performance, acceleration from zero to 100 km/h is listed at 3.4 seconds.

A high-resolution TFT touch screen display, dubbed the Jaguar Co-Pilot, is located in the dashboard and used to manage vehicle information. The main driver information screen housed within the instrument binnacle includes the status and rpm of the two gas turbines.
