Bajaj Auto Q2 net profit surges 69 percent

NEW DELHI - Two-wheeler maker Bajaj Auto Tuesday reported a 69 percent growth in net profit at Rs.6,820.80 million in the quarter ended Sep 30 as against Rs.4,028.30 million during the same period last fiscal.

Vehicle sales crossed 1 million units, the highest ever, the company said in a regulatory filing.

The domestic sales grew by 53 percent as against the industry growth of 21 percent, it added.

The company sold 246,000 units of the Pulsar model and 392,000 units of Discover, another variant. These two brands contributed to over 86 percent of the company’s domestic motorcycle sales.

Total income of the company rose 52 percent at Rs.44,255.30 million for the quarter as against Rs.29,092.40 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2009.
