Tokyo shares rise on US gains

TOKYO - Tokyo stocks climbed in Friday morning trading, supported by modest overnight gains on Wall Street.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average gained 34.23 points, or 0.37 percent, to trade at 9,410.71, while the broader Topix index was up 3.25 points, or 0.4 percent, at 823.65.
The market was cautious ahead of a two-day meeting in South Korea of the Group of 20 of finance ministers, set to open later Friday.
On currency markets at 9 a.m. (0000 GMT), the dollar traded at 81.28-29 yen, up from Thursday’s 5 p.m. quote of 81.09-10 yen.
The euro traded at $1.3912-3913, down from $1.3967-3968 Thursday, and at 113.06-09 yen, down from 113.26-30 yen.
