DDA, Spanish group to cooperate in urban planning

NEW DELHI - The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Spanish group for cooperation in the field of urban planning.

“The MoU was signed between the DDA and Barcelona Strategic Urban Systems of Spain at Raj Bhavan. While Veena Ish represented the DDA, the Spanish body was represented by Ignasi Cardelus I. Fontdevila, who is councillor for the mayor’s office and institutional relations in Barcelona city council,” a Raj Bhavan official said.

The official said the MoU will enable cooperation in the fields of urban planning, especially in areas of heritage conservation, public spaces and also urban renewal of Delhi’s walled city.

Barcelona Strategic Urban Systems is an economic interest group which was created with the aim of participating in international projects and applying the knowledge accumulated over 30 years of urban development in the city of Barcelona.

Lt.Governor Tejendra Khanna is the chairman of the DDA.
