Pakistan-Afghanistan trade deal to be challenged in court

ISLAMABAD - The government of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province will challenge in court a deal on the transit of goods between Afghanistan and Pakistan, saying it will only benefit India and Afghanistan.

The Chamber of Commerce and Trade president, Usman Bashir Bilor, said the agreement is against the interest of Pakistan and would only benefit India and Afghanistan, the Online news agency reported Monday.

The president of All Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association, Atif Rasheed said as a result of the agreement, Pakistani markets will be filled with Indian goods as these goods meant for Afghanistan would be smuggled into Pakistan.

The Pakistani customs officers will also be not allowed to check trucks crossing the Wagah border between India and Pakistan, the Online news agency reported citing Rasheed.
