Abu Dhabi, Nov 25 (IANS/WAM) The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) will lend 37 million dirhams (about $10 million) for constructing a road in Kenya, it was announced Thursday.

The aim of this 135-km road project is to link the Garissa and Modogache cities in Kenya.

The road will connect Kenya to its neighbouring Ethiopia and Somalia in the future and play a major role in the economic development of the country.

The agreement was signed by Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, acting director general of ADFD and Kenya’s ambassador to the UAE, Mohamed Gillo.

Al Suwaidi said: “This agreement is to assist Kenya in its economic growth by providing them with necessary funding to implement development projects.”
