NEW DELHI - Highlighting the achievements of handicraft exporters, Union Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran congratulated them for exceeding the projected target at an awards event here on Wednesday.
Maran presented the awards to 57 exporters at the 17th Export Awards, which was organised by the Export Promotion Council of Handicrafts (EPCH).
Congratulating the winners, he hoped that more and more entrepreneurs will get involved in the growing handicraft export industry.
“Awards encourage and motivate exporters to redouble their efforts. I earnestly hope that in coming years many more young entrepreneurs will become recipients of the awards,” said Maran.
“I am happy to note that against the target of 990 million dollars in the current year, they achieved an export of 1024 million dollars, thus surpassing the targets fixed. This is an excellent performance by the handicraft sector including EPCH and I congratulate all of you and also those who are not present here,” he added.
Maran also informed that two projects have been entrusted to the EPCH, a resource centre in Moradabad and an international lace trade center in Narsapur in Andhra Pradesh.
The EPCH is an apex body of the government for promotion of exports of handicrafts from the country. It was established in 1986-87. (ANI)
