LONDON - Prime Minister Gordon Brown has publicly set a national election for May 6 - a historic vote considered one of Britain's least predictable in decades.

LONDON - Prime Minister Gordon Brown left 10 Downing Street Tuesday to meet with Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace to ask her to dissolve Parliament so a national election can be held May 6.
