WASHINGTON - The Defense Department says it has paid $47,000 to destroy 9,500 copies of a former Army intelligence officer's war memoir that the Pentagon contends threatened national security.

McLEAN, Va. - Science Applications International Corp., known as SAIC, said Thursday that it was awarded a share of a $492 million Army intelligence contract.

WASHINGTON - The defense intelligence community is combing its budgets to figure out where to cut 10 percent of its contractors as part of Defense Secretary Robert Gates' drive to reduce costs in the Pentagon.
