WASHINGTON - President Barack Obama has signed an extension of unemployment benefits for millions of long-term unemployed people, capping a hard-fought political fight with Republicans.
The 272-152 roll call Thursday by which the House passed legislation to restore extended unemployment benefits to the long-term jobless.
The 215-204 roll call Friday by which the House voted to continue providing unemployment checks to people out of work more than six months and revive certain tax breaks for families and businesses.
