Former House Speaker Gingrich sets Ohio town hall
CINCINNATI — Former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich has scheduled the first of a planned series of town halls on jobs for Cincinnati next week.
What Gingrich calls the “real jobs summit” in a state hard hit by the recession comes a day before President Barack Obama’s jobs summit in Washington, with the nation’s unemployment rate topping 10 percent.
The Ohio town hall Dec. 2 will be followed by one in Jackson, Miss., on Dec. 3. Spokesman Dan Kotman of Gingrich’s American Solutions organization says there will be more in 2010.
Gingrich says he wants to get ideas from small business owners and entrepreneurs on creating jobs and improving the economy.
The former GOP congressman from Georgia has been mentioned as a potential presidential candidate in 2012.
