Accenture spent $790,000 lobbying in 1st quarter

NEW YORK — Accenture spent $790,000 in the first quarter to lobby the federal government on Defense Department appropriations funding and other issues, according to a disclosure report.

That’s basically flat with the $791,321 that Accenture spent in the year-ago period, and just above the $753,438 it spent in the fourth quarter of 2009.

The management consulting and outsourcing company also lobbied the federal government on legislation involving education lending, health care reform, financial services reform, corporate tax policy, homeland security spending and veterans’ issues, according to the report filed on April 20.

In the January-to-March period, the company lobbied Congress and the Department of Homeland Security, according to the report filed with the House clerk’s office.

Stephen A. Nigel, who worked for Rep. Yvette Clarke, is among those registered to lobby for Accenture.

Accenture, based in Dublin, has offices in Washington, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco.
