Travelers spends $720,000 on lobbying in 2nd qtr
NEW YORK — The Travelers Cos. Inc. spent $720,000 in the second quarter to lobby the federal government on insurance reform and other issues, according to a disclosure report.
That’s about 12 percent less than the $820,000 the Hartford, Conn.-based insurer spent in the year-ago period, and 8 percent less than the $890,000 it spent in the first quarter of 2010.
Travelers also lobbied the federal government on legislation involving credit scoring, labor union formation, climate change, health care, mortgage reform and small business lending, according to the report filed on July 19.
In the April-to-June period, Travelers lobbied Congress, the White House, the Treasury Department, the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., according to the report filed with the House clerk’s office.
