Godrej Group planning Rs.300-315 crore investment

KOLKATA - The Godrej Group is planning to invest Rs.300-315 crore in setting up a soap plant, a chemical and a cosmetics unit, and go for acquisitions in the hair care and household insecticide segments.

“We will set up a new soap plant in a coastal area, a new chemical unit which would cost around Rs.150 crore and one cosmetic plant that may cost around Rs.15 crore, Group Chairman Adi Godrej said here Wednesday.

The cosmetics unit would come up in the northeast of the country, he said.

The soap unit would be executed by Godrej Consumer Products Ltd (GCPL) and the chemical unit by Godrej Industries.

On acquisition plans, Godrej said the group would look for inorganic growth in haircare, household insecticide and personal wash segments in Asia, Africa and South America.
