PANAJI - Eyeing new markets in Southeast Asia, Goa tourism will be showcased at the International Travel Bureau (ITB) Asia in Singapore beginning Oct 20, a tourism official said Monday.

A team of tourism ministry officials and members of the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa will attend the International Travel Bureau, being organised for the third year.

Tourism Director Swapnil Naik, en route to the travel mart told IANS over telephone that the Oct 20-22 event was the Asia edition of the prestigious ITB Berlin and a great place to showcase Goa to the new tourism markets of Southeast Asia.

“ITB Asia is one of the best B2B (business to business) shows in Asia and focuses mainly on the Southeast Asian travel and tourism markets,” Naik said.

Naik further said that Southeast Asia was a traditionally weak market for Goa, which attracts nearly 85 percent of its five lakh foreign tourists from Europe and Russia.

The delegation is led by Tourism Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar.
