Maruti Suzuki October sales up 39.2 percent

NEW DELHI - Car market leader Maruti Suzuki Monday reported its higher ever monthly sales for October at 1,18,908 vehicles, a growth of 39.2 percent over the same month last year at 85,415 units.

The company crossed 1 lakh unit sales mark in the domestic market for the first time in October 2010, touching 107,555 units. The previous highest sales was 95,148 units in September 2010, the company said in a statement.

The sales also included 11,353 units of exports.

The company said its sales in the compact car A2 segment which comprises of Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star grew at 50.7 percent and stood at 77,502 units as against the like period of 2009.

The auto giant also registered a growth of 32 percent in sales of its mid-sized (A3) segment comprising of SX4 and ‘D’Zire at 11,621 vehicles.

In the C segment comprising of Omni, Versa and Eeco, the sales were 92 percent, while the sales in the B segment (multi-utility vehicles such as Gypsy and Vitara) were up 151.2 percent at 15,379 and 422 units respectively.
