CHANDIGARH - Labourers in Haryana will now get their wages through cheques, a minister said Wednesday.
With a view to safeguard the interest of labourers, the Haryana government has decided to pay wages to labourers by cheque, Labour and Employment minister Shiv Charan Lal Sharma said.
He was addressing a meeting of labour ministers, representatives of industrial associations and trade unions of three states of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Haryana in New Delhi Wednesday.
He stressed the need for developing more cordial relations between labourers and entrepreneurs.
He said the Haryana government had received complaints of labourers not getting minimum wages. Some labourers were made to work for 10 to 12 hours instead of eight hours specified in the rules.
He said action would be taken after enquiring into these complaints.
