Ind. House expected to consider property tax bill
INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana House plans to consider legislation aimed at amending caps on property tax bills into the state constitution.
The House could also advance a bill Thursday that would tighten lobbying and ethics rules in the General Assembly.
The bills would be eligible for passage in the chamber next week if they clear the procedural stage Thursday in which amendments can be offered.
If the property tax measure passes both chambers without changes, voters would decide in November whether to put the bill limits into the constitution.
The Senate also was expected to consider the property tax bill Thursday, but it’s not meeting because of expected snow.
