Schnitzer Steel buys Montana’s Golden Recycling for undisclosed terms

Schnitzer buys Golden Recycling, terms undisclosed

PORTLAND, Ore. — Scrap steel processor Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc. said Monday it bought Golden Recycling & Salvage Inc., a scrap metal recycling company based in Billings, Mont.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Schnitzer said the acquisition gives it a “presence in the Montana market and positions us for further growth in the region.”

Don Hamaker, president of Schnitzer Steel’s Metals Recycling Business, said Golden’s demolition services business “nicely complements our core competency of metals recycling and allows us to expand our service and product offerings.”
