International Bancshares Corp. names 2 to board

LAREDO, Texas — International Bancshares Corp. said its board of directors has made two appointments to its board.

Douglas B. Howland, 59, and Larry A. Norton, 63, were both approved unanimously, the company said in a news release Friday. Both men joined the board of IBC’s subsidiary bank, International Bank of Commerce, Laredo, Texas, in February.

Howland has been CEO of a construction company in Laredo, Texas for more than two decades. He has also been a board member of another IBC subsidiary, Commerce Bank, since 1989.

Norton has been president of a family retail sales business and owner of a retail computer sales company in Laredo for more than 20 years. He has been a board member of Commerce Bank since 1982.
