Australian independent supports Labor Party
CANBERRA, Australia — Independent lawmaker Tony Windsor says he supports Prime Minister Julia Gillard’s Labor Party to form an Australian minority government.
Windsor’s decision Tuesday ties Gillard’s party with opposition leader Tony Abbott’s conservative coalition at 75 seats in the House or Representatives.
Fellow independent Rob Oakeshott was to announce who forms government soon.
