Grains futures jump, livestock prices trade mixed
CHICAGO — Grain futures rose sharply Tuesday on the Chicago Board of Trade.
Wheat for December delivery jumped 16.25 cents to $6.635 a bushel; December corn gained 19.5 cents to $4.91 a bushel; December oats soared 15.25 cents to $3.5275 a bushel; and soybeans for November delivery added 17.75 cents to $10.7175 a bushel.
Beef and pork futures traded mixed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
December live cattle rose 0.37 cent to 97.67 cents a pound; November feeder cattle dropped 1.17 cents to $1.0950 a pound; December lean hogs gained 0.35 cent to 72.25 cents a pound; while February pork bellies fell 1 cent to $1.0750 a pound.
