Now, pay double to enter Delhi Zoo

NEW DELHI - Very soon visitors to the Delhi zoo will have to shell out extra money as the authorities there are planning to double the entry fee.

According to zoo authorities, domestic visitors will have to pay Rs.20 for a ticket which presently costs Rs.10 while foreign visitors will have to spend Rs.100 as against Rs.50. Tickets for children will be increased to Rs.10 from the existing Rs.5.

Visitors carrying cameras will have to pay Rs.100 as against Rs.50 while charges for carrying video cameras will be increased from Rs.500 to Rs.1000.

The authorities are also planning setting up an ATM outside the entry gate.

The decision to increase the entry fee was pending for long. If the fee is doubled, the revenue of the zoo will increase. Moreover, we expect more footfalls in October due to the Commonwealth Games, Anand Krishna, joint director of the zoo, told IANS.

If the entry fee is increased, the zoo expects to collect an annual revenue of Rs.2 crore.
