BMW India’s record sales in October

KOLKATA - BMW India, a subsidiary of German luxury car maker BMW, has sold a record 753 cars in October, the company president said here Saturday.

“Last month (October) we had a highest sale of 753 cars which is a record in itself,” BMW India president Andreas Schaaf told media persons on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce.

The luxury car segment in India is growing at a rate of 60 percent annually, Schaaf said.

The BMW chief said his company was hoping to sell between 5,000 to 6,000 cars by the end of the year.

“Last year we sold 4,721 cars, whereas this year till October we have sold 3,500 cars. We hope to take the margin between 5,000 to 6,000 cars by the end of this year.”

BMWs manufacturing unit in India has the capacity of producing 5,400 cars in a single shift, Schaaf said.
