NEW DELHI - Following in the footsteps of Delhi Traffic Police, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Wednesday launched its official page on Facebook.

The online inauguration took place with Delhi Mayor Prithviraj Sawhney signing in as a member on the page.

The civic body promises to bring in more transparency, accountability and citizen-participation in the process of garbage collection through the communication that takes place on the social networking site.

The MCD is also planning to revamp its 2,500 garbage dumping sites across the city by placing instruction boards at the sites.

On the Facebook page, information like service standards and the area wise details of the 12 MCD zones have already been posted under the tabs ‘Services’ and ‘Know Your Area’.

The Facebook page of Delhi Traffic Police is already a hit with nearly 44,000 members.
