Export grows 36.4 per cent in December 2010: Commerce Secretary

NEW DELHI - India’s exports have registered a growth of 36.4 per cent during December 2010, at 22.5 billion dollars.

Stating this at a press interaction here on Saturday, Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar said that during the period April-December 2010, exports reached a level of 164.7 billion dollars at a growth of 29.5 per cent, while the imports were 247.1 billion dollars with a growth of 19 per cent and a trade deficit of 82.4 billion dollars.

During the interaction, Khullar informed that India’s imports in December 2010 were 25.1 billion dollars, down by 11.1 per cent.

He further clarified that these figures are the quick estimates and the final figure may change.

Balance of trade for the month of December stood at -2.6 billion dollars, which is the lowest in last three years. (ANI)
