CHANDIGARH - The Punjab government Monday announced relaxation to the state residents in paying pending house tax, and water supply and sewerage charges.
Punjab industries and local bodies minister Manoranjan Kalia announced that people can pay their pending house tax and other charges without any penalty March 1-31.
“We have given one month to the state residents to pay back their pending house tax and charges related to water supply and sewerage department,” Kalia told reporters here.
“If they pay these during March, no penalty will be imposed upon them,” he added.
“This initiative of the government will certainly motivate the people to clear their pending dues and also add to the earnings of the state,” he said.
Kalia said his department has decided to initiate the process of e-tendering while inviting bids for the work of water supply and sanitation department.
Kalia also flayed the union budget that was presented by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi. He termed it disappointing as Punjab has not got anything in it.
“The finance minister has clearly favoured states like West Bengal and Kerala. It seems that a union minister is acting like a state minister,” Kalia said.
“Though he has stressed upon agriculture, there is no mention about strengthening of the grains distribution system,” he added.
