NM contractor to work on Spaceport America
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A New Mexico construction company has been selected by the state Spaceport Authority to work on the flight apron at the Spaceport America site in southern New Mexico.
The Spaceport Authority’s board of directors reviewed proposals from several contractors before choosing David Montoya Construction Inc.
The $5.75 million apron project includes all the surfaces around the terminal hangar facility that connect to the runway and other infrastructure at Spaceport America.
The construction company also is working on the spaceport’s 10,000-foot-long runway. It is expected to be complete by late summer with the terminal hangar facility projected to be done by early 2011.
Spaceport Authority executive director Steve Landeene says construction is moving along on schedule.
