Mark Hurd Resigns From Hewlett-Packard

SAN FRANCISCO (GaeaTimes.com)- On Friday, one of the most well known chief executives in the business world, Mark Hurd, the CEO of Hewlett-Packard Co, was unexpectedly forced to resign from his position after an investigation into a claim of sexual harassment revealed other misconducts of the now former CEO of HP. The resignation of Mark Hurd was announced by the company late on Friday. As per reports, the investigation had allegedly found that Mark Hurd had a “close personal relationship” with a former HP contractor and had helped her to get paid for works which she had not done in actuality.
The investigation against Mark Hurd was conducted by the company after a former contractor alleged that she was sexually harassed by the HP CEO while she was in association with the company. The Hewlett-Packard Co. investigation found that Mark Hurd had falsified many documents to conceal his relationship with the former contractor. He had also concealed from the company that he was sharing a personal relationship with the contractor. However, the investigation has determined the Mark Hurd, who is married had not in any ways violated the company’s Sexual Harassment policy. The general counsel Mike Holston however added that Mark Hurd had “demonstrated a profound lack of judgment”.
In a company statement announcing his resignation from the post, Mark Hurd on his part acknowledged that he had acted improperly. He mentioned in his statement that he had realized that during some instances he did not “live up to the standards and principles of trust, respect and integrity”. He maintained that the decision to leave the company is undoubtedly a painful one but he believes that it would have been difficult for him to continue as “an effective leader” of HP.
