WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- It seems that Hewlett-Packard Company and Oracle Corporation rivalry has taken a front seat these days. Last Tuesday Oracle Corporation announced that former HP CEO Mark Hurd has joined Oracle as its co-president and director of its board. However, this news was not taken lightly by HP as the company sued Mark Hurd for breach of confidentiality agreements.

The HP officials said that Mark Hurd agreed and signed the agreements designed to protect HP’s trade secrets and confidential information and now HP intends to enforce these agreements. The source close to HP said that the lawsuit was filed in Santa Clara Superior Court in the heart of Silicon Valley. The report also stated that in his new position the former CEO of HP will not be able to perform his duties without revealing the secrets and confidential statements of his previous company. However, neither Mark Hurd, nor his representative has commented anything about the lawsuit.

On the other hand, Oracle Corporation CEO Larry Ellison criticized this step of HP by releasing a statement where it was maintained that by filling this “vindictive” lawsuit against Oracle and Mark Hurd, the HP board has acted with utter “disregard” for the partnership, both the companies’ joint customers and their own shareholders and employees. The Oracle CEO also stated that the HP Board is making it virtually impossible for Oracle and HP to continue to co-operate and work together in IT marketplace. Mark Hurd was ousted from his post from Hewlett-Packard Company early last month when HP found out that he filed inaccurate expense report when the officials were investigating a sexual harassment complain against him.
